==== Dear friends === First of all, I will thank you all for trusting my abilities by using this software during your competitions. The program is made as a hobby-project, with all that this includes. I have tried my best to make the SW bug-free, but i can not guaranty anything. From previous experience, the competition results seems to be as anticipated. Any problems encountered by using this SW is YOUR sole problem, and any expenses from such problems are YOUR expenses. I will try to repair any error reported, in a reasonable timeframe Running environment : WinRes is made with MS-VisualBasic 5.0, and is tested on PC's running Win95, Win98, XP and w2k. It will most likely work on later windows versions like Vista, but this is not tested. Windows configuration : WinRes uses datafiles where '.' is used as decimalpoint (dot, not comma). Windows must be configured to this setting for WinRes to start and run. The settings can be done through 'Control panel', Regional settings' 'Number'. Files : WinRes uses simple structured ASCII-files to store data, and does not need any extra SW for database management or similar. The disadvantage with this type of storage, is that a large amount of files are generated for each competition. It is for this reason advicable to create a sub-directory for each competition, storing related files together. All files related to a competition, is stored in the same catalog as the competition definition-file (*.CNT). It is vital for WinRes's functionality that all files got the correct internal format, for this reason : - DO NOT edit any competition related file with any other SW. - DO NOT change name of competition and/or pilots after entry of scores has been started. Scores registration : Registration of scores is done sequentionally for each judge. To register a 10, use the x-key Printouts : All printing is done on the printer that is defined as default in Windows. It is wise to have a fast modern printer (ink or laser, NOT dot-matrix). If not, some printouts will take unreasonably long time to complete. Round results : If automatic printout is selected on form for scores registration, the round results for active pilot will be printed, when next pilot is selected with the 'NEXT' button. Results : A sorted list with all pilots will be generated. The number of rounds (limited by the number configured for the competition) can be specifyed, together with number of copies. Competitor list : A list of all information registered for all pilots are generated. Startlist : Startlists for the selected rouds are generated. A pause in the middle of a round can be specifyed. Judgelist : All registered judges are printed. Scoresheets : This printout can be big. There are 4 possible modes : 1 - One sheet for all pilots and all judges, with pilot and judge names (ie 5 pilots, 3 judges = 15 scoresheets). 2 - One sheet for all pilots, for one judge, with pilot names, and name of selected judge. (ie 5 pilots = 5 scoresheets) 3 - One sheet for all judges, for one pilot, with name of judges and selected pilot. (ie 3 judges = 3 scoresheets) 4 - One sheet without pilot- nor judge- name (ie 1 scoresheets) On each sheet there are space for judge scores for all manuvres and for all rounds, for the schedule defined for this competition. It is advisibe to wait with this printout until starting order is drawn. The sheets then ends up in correct order for first round, sorted for each judge. The following files belongs to a competition : Scedule.SCH : Maneuvre schedule descriptionfile. NB : these files must be present in same catalog as WinRes.exe. Cname.CNT : Competitionfile, contains all general information regarding the actual competition, like : judges, pilots, schedule etc. Cname.RES : File with total results for all competitors for all rounds in the actual competition. CnamePilot.R0(1...) : All judge scores for the actual competition, pilot and round given by the filename. Cname.TXT : Exported data from actual competition, contains same data as similar printout. After a succesfull installation, the target catalog should contain these files : WinRes.exe : The actual program. WinRes.ini : Configuration data for WinRes. WinRes.ico : An icon that can be used for the program. *.lng : Language definition files. *.sch : Flightschedule definitions. St5unst.log : File generated during installation, contains necessary data to enable an un-installation of WinRes. WinRes Readme.txt : the file you are reading now. Limitations : Max number of maneuvres in on flightschedule . . . . : 50 Max number of rounds in one competition . . . . . . : 10 Max number of judges to judge one competition . . . : 10 Max number of pilots in one competition . . . . . . : 100 ============================================================================================= ============================================================================================= ==== Rev 2.4 July 2005 ==== Changes in rev. 2.4 (from 2.3) : - Selectable to use either channel no or frequencies on format 00.000 - Minor change to some print-outs, to improve readability - Problem whith the SW neglecting to remove high and low score removed. - Possibility to give negative bonus per flight added (noise penalty), was positive only. - For each competition an start-no offset can be set, enabling one series of starting numbers to be used for several classes in one event (ex 1-10 for F3a, 20-32 for Nordic etc). ============================================================================================= ==== Rev 2.3 July 2002 ==== Changes in rev. 2.3 (from 2.2) : - General bugfixes. - Support for external result-display is added. Another PC running a program called WR_RemoteDisplay.exe connected to the one running WinRes, will display the scores for all pilots and all rounds for the active competition in WinRes. The display is fully automatic once the connection is made, with a selectable update rate. Connection is made through RS-232, using a simple 3-wire connection with crossed TX and RX (pin 2 to pin 3 & 3 to 2). ============================================================================================= ==== Rev 2.2 May 2002 ==== Changes in rev. 2.2 (from 2.1) : - General bugfixes. - Possibility to specify print quality (only when 'graphic' printer is selected). ============================================================================================= ==== REV 2.1 November 2001 ===== Changes in rev. 2.1 (from 2.03) : - Score entry table-headings shows individual judge name. ============================================================================================= ==== REV 2.03 4 June 2000 ===== Changes in rev. 2.03 (from 2.02) : - Fixed headings (++) in common print&export dialog boxes, there were problems when printing was initiated after an export. - New feature added : Quick selection of one of the last 5 opened competitions is possible, from file-menu ============================================================================================= Any error or wish for feature ?? Please report it, maybe it will be implemented/fixed for next revision. Report to : Ola Fremming H.B. Haraldsensgt. 18D 3188 Horten ofremmi@online.no
